Casino Mystere

Published Sep 28, 2007

An eerie feeling overwhelmed Montini with the announcement of the 2007 Homecoming theme of Casino Mystere. Senior girls waited in anticipation of the announcement of the court, and others wondered what each day of the actual week would be like. All of the mysteries quickly unraveled as the student government announced their ideas for the dance.

The announcement of the members of the court was a shock to the entire school. Leaders of the student government mysteriously walked around the cafeteria at eighth lunch period and gave a bright yellow flower to five unsuspecting girls. The lucky girls included Kelly McCann, Kelly Shneider, Alexa Alianello, Bridget Mullins and Ashley Barrett. These five girls were chosen by the senior class to represent the senior girls at the Homecoming dance.

With the announcement of the Homecoming court came the announcement of the themes for each day during Homecoming week. The two obvious days were class color day and walk-a-thon day. No homecoming week could be complete without these two days. The three surprise days included celebrity day, glitz and glam day and dress up as a character from Clue day. The most unique day by far is dress up as a character from Clue. There is a character in the game to fit every personality, and all students will surely take advantage of this fun dress down opportunity.

Another awesome feature to Homecoming week is the special lunch. Students are able to order food from the much loved Chinese restaurant, Panda Express. This option is a nice switch from the normal cafeteria food that is offered every day.

The most important part of Homecoming week is the football game on the Friday before the dance. Montini is facing Immaculate Conception High School in Elmhurst, and the game is sure to be packed with people. Most people go to see the game, but the best part of the game is the announcement of the Homecoming queen. The student government usually thinks of a creative way of going about doing this, and it will be interesting to see what they do this year to fit Casino Mystere.

The Homecoming dance itself is the much anticipated end to homecoming week. The cafeteria will be glitzed and glammed up in the Casino Mystere theme by the student government. The dance is certain to show a myriad of colors with the hundreds of dresses circling the middle of the cafeteria. Everyone is sure to look handsome and beautiful Sept. 29 as they make there way into Montini.

After the week is over, the normal school schedule will once again take over. The sparkle and shine of Homecoming week will have to wait until Turnabout week in 2008. Congratulations goes out to each girl on the Homecoming court, and a big thanks goes to each member of the student government who devoted their time and energy to making Homecoming 2007 one of the best homecomings to be.
