As the month of February encroaches upon the students of Immaculate Conception High School, excitement lingers in air. With the turnabout dance scheduled for Feb.16, students prepare themselves for a week submerged in classic television shows as the theme this year is Nick At Knight.

Similar to homecoming, the turnabout festivities include ridiculous dress-down days, pep rallies and loads of school spirit. Starting off Feb. 11, students will show their sense of past styles, dressing in outdated fashions. Items such as legwarmers, overalls and poodle skirts should be an ordinary sight throughout the halls. As Feb. 12 begins, students will dress to impress in the theme’s clothing. Some people may be mistaken as characters from “The Brady Bunch” or “The Fresh Prince of Bel Aire,” but those are merely the students who enjoy and wholeheartedly partake in the activities. Feb. 13 involves dressing in the dark; clothing that matches is out of the question. With the pep rally on Feb. 14, students will represent their class, wearing specific colors such as orange, blue, green and white. Furthermore, the turnabout king will be revealed during the pep rally events. With one day left till the dance, the entire school wears T-shirts designed by a member of the senior class. Also, Feb. 15 allows certain students to switch places with teachers, filling their day with classes, lesson plans and, most likely, a headache. Finally, Feb. 16 is the day up to which that the week has been building. After getting ready, picking up dates and taking pictures with friends, students will dance the night away. For some, it is their last dance with the entire school, so hopefully the memories will surmount the sadness of the end of a chapter.
